New Process for In-Country Registrations in India

December 30, 2011— The FRRO, Chennai has implemented a new process for in-country registrations for all foreign nationals. As per the new process, the FRRO authorities, upon receiving the application for in-country registration, will issue an acknowledgment (INTIMATION - B) to all foreign nationals. After which an internal verification (back-ground check of the applicant) process will follow and the time frame to complete the verification is expected to take 3 to 4 weeks.

Once this process is completed, the authorities would send a "call letter" to the applicant's residence (as mentioned in the registration application form) requesting the applicant to visit the FRRO office to collect his/her original Residential Permit.

Please note that you will not be allowed to make any International travel until you are in possession of the Residential Permit.
