U.S. Government Shutdown Will Affect Immigration Benefits April 8, 2011— The potential U.S. Federal government shutdown will halt all processing and adjudication of U.S. immigration applications/petitions until either a temporary or long-term budget is passed. Such affects would begin tonight, April 8, 2011, at midnight unless otherwise resolved. This suspension will include the processing of visa applications and issuance of benefits at all U.S. Consulates abroad as well as all U.S. government agencies. As a result of this interruption, we encourage you to plan accordingly and it will impact you or your employees. The last government shutdown, which occurred in 1995-96, lasted for three weeks. |
