Repatriation is often more difficult for expatriates and families than their initial adjustment abroad. The experience gained from an international assignment will help an employee develop professionally and personally. However, upon returning to their home culture and previous work environment, many employees face confusing emotions and difficulties in readjusting to their home location. After living abroad for several years, expatriates acquire new behaviors and perceptions in order to function effectively in the new culture. Upon returning, these newly acquired behaviors and attitudes cause them to feel out of sync with their once familiar home culture. Addressing the repatriation concerns of an employee and their family is an important means to ensuring the success of expatriate programs.

AIReS provides one- and two-day repatriation programs to assist the employee and family in readjusting to life in the home country following an international assignment. A youth repatriation program is also available to address the issues and concerns of school-aged dependent children facing readjustment to life with former home country peers.
